I have always had a dream of spending a summer under the Tuscany sun, and finally my dream comes true: Europass, an Italian language school in Florence offered me a study and work internship program from July to October in 2013.

For anyone new to Florence, there are at least two critical things to think about: the accommodation and new friends. Now I have been living in Florence for more than 1 month, I am so content with my shared apartment and I am happy that I made many good friends here in Florence, with my flat mates and classmates.

Before my arrival to Florence, Europass has arranged a room for me in a shared apartment. I had a warm welcoming from the house owner, very kind Italian couple. They gave me a lot of helpful information of the Florence city life. Then I get to know my flat mates, they are also students coming to Florence to learn Italian. Every evening, we reviewed the Italian courses together, and help each other with difficult Italian grammar, sometimes we do quiz too. It’s really fun and efficient to learn Italian in a small group, and we are also improving our friendship while studying together.

Apart from learning Italian, we also try to have a touch of the Italian culture, some nights we go out to see the night life in Florence, we take ice cream and watch the street shows in piazza della Repubblica, we go to Piazzale Michelangelo and go for Salsa and Bachata dancing.

The atmosphere of Europass language school is warm and friendly, like a big and international family. A few weeks ago we had a small birthday party for Andreas, he was a little bit surprised by the cake, and we all shared his happiness .

Regarding the Italian Language courses at Europass, I would describe them flexible and accustomed to students’ need. First of all, the language course starts every Monday, students just need to do an online-Italian-test and a small oral test at school to know the level of Italian course to follow. Moreover, in class, the teachers pay much attention to students’ expression in Italian and figure out students’ weakness in the grammar, thus to arrange some extra ‘fix-up’ apart from the stand teaching plan.

Time is really flying this summer, I think it’s for the reason I am very much enjoying my life here in Florence.
